Do you know the law?

Jessica's Law is designed to punish sex offenders and reduce their ability to re-offend. The law’s most significant provisions prohibit sex offenders from living within 2,000 feet of any school and park, and mandate Global Positioning System (GPS) supervision for life;

In Kansas HB 2576 is named as Jessica’s Law imposes a 25-year sentence for adults convicted of a violent sex crime against a child.  Persistent sex offenders who commit sexually violent crimes would be punished by life without parole if the bill were passed.

As passed HB 2576 requires that predators who commit sexually based crimes against children be sentenced to no less than 25 years for a first offense. The bill would also strengthen current offender registration requirements and provide for lifetime GPS monitoring of child sex offenders. http://www.lancekinzer.com/jesslawpr050806.html

It enhances the state’s ability to detect, track and apprehend sexual offenders. Jessica’s Law prohibits sex offenders that are released from prison to live within 2,000 feet of parks and schools, as well as other restrictions. Click here to learn more about Jessica’s Law
